How an HOA Board Can Tackle Hosting a Super Bowl Party for Residents
February 1, 2022 / by HOA Manager
Building community among residents in your homeowners association can be a challenge, especially in the world's current environment. People have busy schedules, won’t commit to attending events, aren't ready to be a part of larger gatherings, or simply don’t want to be bothered. However, if you host a gathering and nail it, then they’ll be more apt to attend next time, start getting to know their neighbors, and maybe even start to show interest in getting involved on a committee.
So, what better way to get together than hosting a Super Bowl party. The tips below are sure to score a touchdown with the residents in your community.
Potluck Party
Take advantage of the easy-to-use potluck feature on Punchbowl to organize your potluck. Before you send invitations, create your potluck list. You can specify how many items you need in each food category (drinks, sides, appetizers, etc.) so you don't end up with ten desserts and no appetizers.
You can’t go wrong sharing food. Plus, a potluck gives people the opportunity to feel like they’re contributing something they enjoy or that they’re good at making.
Invite Accordingly
Make your party legit by creating a fun invitation so guests know what they can expect and have all the details in one place. You can even create free invites here. Make a personal touchpoint by having HOA board members or committee members hand-deliver the invites. If you’re having a last-minute party, you can also create an Evite to save time.
Make it Festive
A great party isn’t complete without the right decorations. Purchasing or making a noise maker or favor will encourage your guests to have a good time. Hand them one when they arrive or have them available on hand to give out prior to kickoff.
More Than a Game
The Super Bowl is more than just a game – it’s practically a holiday in America! HOA board members can make the party an all-out event by hosting pre-game activities or contests during the game. This is also a great alternative for guests who aren’t avid football fans or kids who might quickly lose interest in the game.
Keep it Safe
Whether the HOA board is hosting a party at the clubhouse for residents of the Association, or residents are hosting their own parties, it’s always a good idea to send out a reminder that the rules and regulations for the homeowners association still need to be followed.
Of course you don’t want to be a party pooper, but remind residents that excessive noise, parking violations, unsupervised kids, etc. will be dealt with accordingly.
There are many ways to start strengthening relationships in the community, but starting with something easy and fun will be sure to score points with residents. Once they see a good time they’ll hopefully start encouraging other residents to take part too.
